The governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyin Okowa has challenged wealthy Deltans to channel their God given resources toward the service of humanity and the development of the State.
Governor Okowa gave the admonition when he declared open a High Court of Justice single handedly built by the chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fountain of Joy Foundation and Comfort, Mr. Paul Odili at Ute-Ogbeje in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The governor who was represented by the Director of Protocol, Government House, Asaba, Chief Francis Eboigbe charged wealthy individuals within and outside the state to emulate the philanthropist gesture of Mr. Paul Odili to embark on humanitarian services that they would be remembered for by future generations, stressing that this would reduce incidents of insecurity.
"If we can see three or four people like you in the state the level of insecurity will reduce. You have given jobs to thousands of people, people are praying for you every day" the governor stated.
The outgoing Chief Judge of Delta state, Justice Marshal Umukoro who commissioned the High Court applauded Paul Odili for utilising his personal resources in improving infrastructure in the state, even as he described him as a rare gem.
Justice Umukoro said that the Judiciary decided to identify with Odili because he used his money to invest in public oriented projects and improve infrastructure in the state rather oppressing perceived enemies.
"Paul Odili is a rare gem. So many people who are rich, who are blessed are not seen in their locality. But you decided to come home because this is where you come from.
"What you have done here now in many years to come your great-grand children will remember you, for you are already sowing in the future and God knows your heart.
"Not every person that has your means will decide to invest in this type of structure. They will even use their money to sponsor criminals in their society, to deal with their perceived enemy, known and unknown, but you have decided to use your money to improve infrastructure in the state. That is why we decide to associate ourselves with you" the Chief Judge reiterated.
In his welcome speech, the chairman and chief executive officer of Fountain of Joy Foundation and Comfort, Mr. Paul Odili said that he was motivated to build the High Court by his belief that justice heralds liberty, progress and prosperity.
He reiterated his commitment to partner with the state Judiciary to provide facilities to enable judges to perform their judicial role efficiently, even as he advised members of the Bench to dispense justice without fear or favour.
The CEO who has built a magistrate court and handed over to the state Judiciary one and half year ago, later conducted Chief Judge, the representative of the Governor and brother judges round the court facilities.
Judges who accompanied the Chief Judge were Justice K. O. Okpu, Justice C. I. Dafe and Justice H. O. Akpotohwo sitting at Ogwasi-Uku, Umunede/Obiaruku and Owa-Oyibu Judicial Divisions, respectively.
