PROTRACTED ONGOING STRIKE BY JUDICIAL WORKERS IN OGUN STATE - JUDICIAL WORKERS STRIKE CRIPPLES THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN OGUN STATE - By Olasunkanmi Ogunniran, Esq.

I am the Immediate Past Publicity Secretary, NBA Ikorodu branch.

While we are still trying to recover from the unprecedented Junsun protracted Nation wide strike in Nigeria, precisely on the 10th day of August, 2021, the Judicial Workers in Ogun State embarked on an indefinite strike still ongoing till date.

The quagmire of the continued strike by the Judicial Workers in Ogun State has inflicted on the Justice System in the State is of no small measure. Moreso, the administration of Justice System has been crippled to a standstill.
To the extent that the Police Stations in the State has now assumed the role of Court, mediation and recovery of debt agents going unchecked.

Nonetheless, I am particularly glad that with the new Executives of NBA Abeokuta branch, the capital of Ogun State, and in conjunction with  other branches in the State, the new brave bar will emerge to face these monstrosity militaging against the Judicial system.

It seem though that the unresolved disagreement between the Judicial Workers and Ogun State Government seems to have no end. This has occasioned continued delay in arraignment of suspects pending Criminal trials and stall of Civil Cases resulting to loss of revenue to the Judicial Sector, hardship to the litigants and its attendant loss of earnings to the Lawyers.

It is the position of the Law that "Delay defeats Justice [As Justice delayed, is Justice denied]".
To this end, the I implore the intervention of the Nigerian Bar Association, National and Branches within the State and further call on all the stake holders to find a lasting solution to the Judicial Workers ongoing strike in the State.
