It is an honour for me to send my good will message to the Chairperson and Members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers aka (FIDA), Oyo State Branch on the occasion of their FIDA LAW WEEK, 2021 that commenced from 8th to 15th October, 2021.
The Law Week themed, "Collaborative Synergy Amongst Stakeholders For the Enforcement and Implementation of Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP), 2021: Removing the Clogs" is very important and peculiar.
There is truly the urgent need for a collaborative synergy amongst the various Stakeholders responsible for the Implementation of VAPP, the absence of which has often led to the discharge of some suspects.
It is often observed by Practitioners that the lack of Collaborative synergy amongst the various Stakeholders in the implementation of VAPP has also brought about the unpleasant consequences of discharge of suspects.
Therefore the need for this interrogation of the various Stakeholders responsible for the implementation of VAPP cannot be over emphasized.
I therefore wholly adopt the theme of this Law Week as apt and urge that FIDANS Oyo State must close rank and ensure that this conversation is fruitful and all necessary lessons are learnt by all the Stakeholders.
It is also expected from the line up of events which included the Sensitization of Students on VAPP, Market Sensitization Outreach, In-House Counselling and the Break out Sessions that Members will be immensely enriched in such a way that will bring about serious attitudinal changes.
Once again, congratulations to FIDA Oyo State.
