Nigerian Bar Association, Oleh Branch Holds Law Week 13 to 15 OctoberThe Nigerian Bar Association, Oleh Branch will hold her Law Week from 13th to 15th October at Oleh, the headquarter of Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.
The event which coincides with the10th Anniversary of the branch shall also feature presentation of awards to retired members of the bench and other distinguished members for their outstanding contributions to the growth of the branch.
According to the programme of activities released by the Law Week Organising Committee, the Week shall kick off on Wednesday, 13th of October at 10 am with a keynote speech by a quintessential jurisprudence expert and erudite lecturer of law Prof. Festus Emiri, SAN on the topic, " Developing Lawyering Skills for Modern Day Practice while, the chairman of session would be the Chief Judge of Delta State, Honourable Justice Tessy Diai. The Discussants are Pastor E. O. Jewo and the chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Warri branch, Chief Emmanuel Uti.
The afternoon session which will begin at 2 pm same day, the national Welfare Secretary, and legal luminary Mr. Edun Kunle will speak on the topic, " Bail Procedure under the Delta State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, ACJL. Honourable Justice C. O. Emifoniye of the High Court of Justice, an eminent jurist, is expected to chairman the session while the chairman of NBA, Udu branch Patrick Mekako and Barrister Stewart Ogedegbe will be the discussants.
The second day of the week, Thursday, 14th October shall feature erudite scholar in customary law, prolific writer and a quintessential jurist His Honour, Emiaso Miakpiburo (rtd) will do justice to the topic, " Paternity Fraud." The chairman of session is immediate past chairman of the NBA, Warri branch M. A. Asugo, Esq. While a seasoned medical practitioner and Lawyer, Dr Paul Oweh, and cerebral lecturer, Peter Gasiokwu, Esq., Ph.D are discussants.
In the afternoon session, the MD/CEO DESOPADEC, Bashorun Ogieh will speak on the topic, "An Appraisal of the Contemporary Nigerian Lawyer: Development or Regression." The session will be chaired by Honourable Justice O. A. Akpovi of the State High Court while cerebral lecturer of the Faculty of Law in Delta State University, Oleh Campus Brown Umukoro, Ph.D and Chief Duncan Afahoko are to discuss on the topic.
The Law Week that will be held at the Anglican Women Hall, opposite Faculty of Law, DELSU, Oleh Campus will be rounded up with a law dinner on Friday, October 15 at 4. pm.
