JLF LAUNCHES ANTI-HARRASSMENT OF LAWYERS (AHLA) CAMPAIGN IN LAGOS STATE.
Rising from a virtual meeting of her Executive Committee, the Joint Lawyers' Fora in Lagos State (JLF) has launched an Anti-Harrassment of Lawyers (AHLA) Campaign.
The JLF noted with dismay the record of 10 different cases of harassment of lawyers in 30 days of the new year, 2022 by different formations of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies.
The JLF is currently made up of the Alimosho Lawyers' Forum, Yaba Bar Forum, Eti-Osa Bar Forum and Ibeju-Lekki Bar Forum. It has equally expanded its Joint Executive Committee. Mrs Derin Kappo, the Chairperson of the Alimosho Lawyers' Forum retains the office of Joint Chairperson while Oladotun Hassan, Chairperson of Eti-Osa Bar Forum emerged as Joint 1st Vice-Chairperson and Vona Uwadiawhe, the Chairperson of Ibeju-Lekki Bar Forum emerged as Joint 2nd Vice-Chairperson respectively. Ayo Ademuluyi, the Secretary of Eti-Osa Bar Forum will also operate as the Joint Secretary and Yakubu Eleto, the Chairperson of the Yaba Bar Forum will operate as Publicity Secretary. Femi Fangnon Dodo, the Secretary of Yaba Forum will act as Legal Adviser.
The JLF has also set up an AHLA Campaign Committee with Ayo Ademuluyi as Campaign Coordinator, Femi Dodo as Campaign Secretary and Yakubu Eleto as Member of the Committee. Membership of the Committee is open to all Members of the Bar.
The Committee will relate as from time to time with the NBA Security Agencies' Relations Committee and leadership of existing Branches to forge a united and common front against this ugly phenomenon.
