Dear Colleagues,
As you already know, the Federal High Court, Umuahia Judicial Division, delivered a judgment on the 18th day of March 2022, nullifying Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.
In the wake of the judgment, various unsavoury remarks have been made about the judgment and the person of the Judge, Hon. Justice Evelyn Anyadike.
Kindly find attached, a statement by the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, calling on Nigerians and legal practitioners to refrain from employing intemperate language to characterize judgments and/or judges.
The NBA pledges to apply for the certified true copies of the judgement, the processes filed and record of proceedings in the case, in order to decide the next appropriate steps.
