The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through its Chairman, Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud recently reported that over 78% of the total registered voters for the 2023 general elections are young people between the age group of 18 - 35 years old.
From the report, the group of people that will decide the fate of the country are the youths.
This presupposes that the youths will decide who the next President, Governors, National and State Houses of Assembly members will be.
This report ought to evoke excitement, but, sadly, many political watchers are disillusioned because the average Nigerian youth is highly unprepared for this noble responsibility.
Millions of today's youth are either slumbering away or have been mischievously programmed as usual to be used by politicians as political thugs.
It is therefore highly imperative that the youths who constitute over 78% of the voting population in the 2023 general elections must wake up and take their rightful position by voting out the mass unemployment at all levels across Nigeria and vote in the best hands.
Nigerian youths must therefore learn to resist the satanic urge to be used as political thugs by the old bands of politicians who only exploit, pauperize and rob them of their mental capacity to think right.
We must all rise as Nigerian youths to take our destinies in our hands by voting out all oppressors of the Nigerian people.
This battle to free the youths must be driven by all youth bodies and associations including Civil Society Organizations.
