The wealth, growth, and progress of any nation, institution, or establishment rest on the labour force. The International Workers' Day provides an opportunity to appreciate members of this “growth propelling force” for their immense contributions. It is also an opportune moment of introspection to reflect on the timeless values of hard work, the dignity of labour; and the need for adequate attention to be paid to the rights and welfare of our workers by the government and all relevant stakeholders.
On the occasion of this year's International Workers' Day celebration, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Olumide Akpata, on behalf of the Association celebrates the Nigerian Labour force, as well as workers all over the world. The NBA calls on the government to make more deliberate interventions to ensure the elevation of the status of the average worker, by addressing all labour-related issues that have altogether negatively impacted our national growth and productivity.
