Dear Learned Silk Designate Sir,
CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE ON BEING SHORTLISTED FOR THE AWARD OF SENIOR ADVOCATE OF NIGERIA.
I heartily congratulate you Sir for being shortlisted, this week ‐ Monday, June 27, 2022, for the award of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
You have been an illustrious, loyal, committed, hardworking, and truly distinguished member of our Branch.
The award for which you have been shortlisted is the much-coveted and highest honour and rank in our noble profession. It is no mean feat.
Your name is the 5th on the list released by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee of the Supreme Court of Nigeria for this year's award out of 73 Advocate Applicants shortlisted.
You have been a dedicated Advocate of the first rank for many years. You are talented and urbane, a true Gentleman and polyglot being fluent in both Yoruba and Hausa languages. You relate well with all Lawyers irrespective of age at the bar. I have personally known you for many years and we do speak the Hausa language whenever we meet or speak on phone. We have mutual Clients that we represent separately in cases in the different hierarchies of courts. You have always been a shining light providing strategic guidance and gently nudging me in the right direction. You have provided a moral compass with which I navigate my way.
In the last Law Week of our Branch held in May this year, you supported the Branch morally and financially. You reached out to your close friends and associates who made financial contributions. You also made a personal financial contribution which in no small measure contributed to the successful hosting of the 2022 Law Week. We are grateful Sir and you too shall be successful in all your undertakings.
It is on this note that I celebrate you and welcome all members of our Branch to also celebrate you and to wish you luck in the final list. Having come this far God will finish what He started in your life, Sir. When the final list is out we hope that you will again make the first 5 on the list.
The Branch will be with you in Abuja for your swearing-in come September this year, by God's special grace. The Branch will celebrate you with pomp and aplomb.
Our Branch is fast producing and churning out great minds for our State and the nation at large. The list is now growing: Mr. Olatunji Dawodu was appointed a Magistrate of the Lagos State Magistracy in the time of Mr. Bayo Akinlade and Mr. Olalekan Ijelu was appointed a Judge of the Lagos State High Court in the time of Mr. Abimbola Ojedokun. We are now going Federal. You are next in line to be elevated Sir, and, in my own time. Eyinlokan!
Upon your conferment of the distinguished rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, you would have made history as the first original member of our Branch to be honoured with the enviable, distinguished and highest rank in our noble profession. You cannot imagine our joy, Sir. You would have paved the way for more members to be conferred, including my humble self, by God's grace. You are now a Branch asset and we will continue to consult you for professional guidance and/or otherwise.
Our Branch is getting truly great Sir by virtue of hardworking and dedicated members like your good self. Indeed, there are no great associations but great people who make the association what it is!
