MY RESUME; I AM ADEDOTUN HABEEB ADETUNJI, ESQ.

For 21 years, I have been the Principal Counsel and Founder of Dotun Adetunji &Co, an unusual law firm which places priority on the role the law can play in furthering justice especially for the less privileged and underserved in the society.

My personal values and beliefs of fairness and justice for all which is at the core calling of the firm having its root in the various experiences I have as the founder garnered since graduation from the Nigerian Law School Victoria Island, Lagos in 1995.

My experiences budded from handling various legal matters as Counsel-In-Chamber at Ayanlaja, Adesanya & Co between 1995 and 1996. Between 1996 and 1999 at Layi Babatunde SAN & CO, I handled highly contentious litigation matters including but not limited to land matters, property transactions, shipping matters and matrimonial cases.

I have continued rendering services to my community through personal efforts and that of the firm; which has seen me hold several positions and appointments within and out of the legal profession. I am is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration, Member Institute of Directors, Member, International Bar Association and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

From the year 2014-2016, I held many positions including the Chairman NBA Ikorodu Branch, where I set on motion several innovative and novel ideas which have since positioned the branch as one of the best in Nigeria. A Vice-Chairman of Ikorodu Branch within 2010-2012, Chairman of Membership and Allied Matters Committee (2016-2018), Chairman Law Week Committee (2016-2017), Chairman, Bye Laws Review Committee (2012-2013), Chairman Legal Practitioners Remuneration Committee (2010-2012), Alternate Chairman Disciplinary Committee (2010-2012), Chairman, Human Rights and Pro Bono Committee ( 2010-2012), Member National Executive Committee (NEC) (2014- Till date) for service to our professional body.

Fortunately, I was a member of the team appointed by NBA national body to hold monitoring brief in the suit of FGN v. HON. JUSTICE RITA OFILI-AJUMOGOBIA &ORS (2017). Furthermore, I was appointed Member of the Governing Council of Lagos Multi-door Courthouse from 2014 to 2017 and Member Lagos State Government Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy (2016-2019).

My contribution to the body of knowledge in the legal profession some through papers delivered at high-level seminars and workshops including: Statutory Responsibilities of the Corporate Affairs Commission under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990- an appraisal (unpublished); A critique on the Law of conspiracy in four jurisdictions – Nigeria, India, Australia and the United states of America-(unpublished). Similarly, I contributed to several seminars like: The Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules (2009), African Regional Mechanism for the Promotion and Enforcement of Human Rights. (2012), The Bar and The Bench: Twin Pillars Upholding the Rule of Law in Nigeria (2010) and the challenges of Technology in the law of Evidence in Nigeria.

                                       

In spite of my accolades and honours, I find time to do what is very close to my heart: serving my community. Currently I am the Chairman Agbele/Oreyo Community Development Association, Igbogbo- Baiyeku LCDA Ikorodu Lagos, a position I have held since 2007 till date. An EXCO member of Community Development Council,Igbogbo Baiyeku L.C.D.A.

Today, at Dotun Adetunji & Co, I act as legal consultants and Advisers to individuals, companies and firms in the Banking, Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Maritime, Real Estate and Aviation Industries. This is further to my dealings in Environmental and Human Rights Law, Immigration and Real Estate with a wealth of experience in litigation especially on criminal and civil matters up to Supreme Court, negotiation and settlement of claims, debt recovery for Commercial institutions and Banks, Capital Market transactions, Joint ventures and technical service agreements.

Offering expert service in interpretation of all contracts and related international representation and litigation I specialize in local and international money market operations, banking and insurance arrangements and property conveyance.

Aside Law and Community Service, I equally have other interest in teaching, writing articles, travelling with the aim of networking and connecting people.

Finally, I am a passionate Bar man, who is married and blessed with Children to the glory of God.
