As part of efforts to promote the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme nationwide; Bayo Akinlade Esq will be meeting with the Osun and Ondo State Coordinators of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria to present the PDSS training manuals.
Mr. Akinlade will also be presenting the manuals to the Branch Chairmen in the respective State capitals.
It is hoped that a training session for lawyers and the police in these states will be organised soon to implement the scheme.
The training manual which was edited by Stanley Ibe Esq of the Open Society Justice Initiative, published by NBA Ikorodu Branch with the support of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice and the Justice Reform Project has since been distributed widely but much still needs to be done in providing follow up training programs and in the implementation of the Scheme.
The initiative requires the support of all stakeholders, therefore, we call on everyone interested in promoting this initiative to contact Bayo Akinlade, the NBA Branch or the Legal Aid Council office closest to them.
