COVID-19: JUDGES RECEIVE SECOND DOSE OF VACCINE.

Judicial Officers in the State Judiciary have been vaccinated with the second round of COVID-19 Vaccine today at the High Court Complex, Asaba.


The COVID-19 vaccination team from the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency of the Oshimili South Local Government Council arrived the Complex at 10:20 am with judges of the High Court and Customary Court of Appeal already on ground waiting to be vaccinated. 


The team led by the Chief Nursing Officer of the Oshimili South Local Government Area, Mrs. Victoria Jibunor administered the Astrazenaca jab of two doses to Justice D. C. Maidoh before other Judges took their turns. 


According to Mrs. Jibunor, the acceptability of the vaccine by Deltans and residents was high, disclosing that over three thousand people got vaccinated in the State during the first round which, started in March this year.  


Mrs. Jibunor who is in charge of Sick Bay in the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency in Oshimili South Local Government Council acknowledged complaints of mild fever, headache and pain of injunction sight experienced by some persons after the first dose, explaining that they were minor side effects normally associated with introduction of new vaccines. 


She advised people to discountenanced negative rumours in the social media about the adverse effect of the vaccine, pointing out that there was no major complaints since the vaccination exercise began. 


The Chief Nursing Officer said the vaccine helps to develop antibody against COVID-19 virus, assists in normalising some respiratory defects and boost immunity, even as she advised those who have taken the second dose to continue to maintain social distance and observe other COVID-19 protocols because not everybody has been vaccinated.


The Chief Registrar of the High Court, Barrister Obomejero Aforkeya; deputy chief registrars, departmental and unit heads of the High Court were among those vaccinated during the second exercise.
