FRESH CASES OF KIDNAPPING OF STUDENTS IN NIGER AND ONDO STATES: ANY HOPE FOR THE NIGERIAN CHILD?

Being Text of an Emergency State of the Nation Press Briefing Held on 4th June, 2021 at the Press Gallery, Lagos Court of Arbitration, 1A, Remi Olowude Street, Maruwa, Lekki, Lagos by 1pm.

SALUTATIONS

It is a great pleasure to welcome great ladies and gentlemen of the press to this important State of the Nation Press Briefing.

FG MUST SECURE THE RELEASE OF KIDNAPPED 200 PUPILS NOW.

We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to secure the release of 200 pupils of an Islamic School in Niger State who were kidnapped recently. According to media reports, two mothers of the pupils who are mostly under ages 10 and 12 have given up the ghosts.

We are worried that more lives may be lost if the Federal Government and Niger State Government does not act quickly to avert the killings.

KIDNAPPING OF PUPILS IN A BUS IN ONDO STATE SHOW A NEW LOW.

We are also aghast at the worrisome new low in the trend of Kidnappings in the country with the hostage-taking of a bus in Ondo State.

We are saddened that the degeneration of insecurity in the country, especially in the South-western part of the country is taking this worrying dimensions.

We call on the Ondo State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to act responsibly and secure the release of the pupils.

CONCLUSION

We will keep our friends in the media aware of our next steps. We appreciate you all for your kind indulgence.
