STATEMENT OF THE NBA ON THE REFUSAL OF THE NIGERIAN PRESIDENT TO ASSENT TO THE ELECTORAL ACT (AMENDMENT) BILL.

 

Dear Colleagues,

You may recall that the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at its recent meeting at Abeokuta, Ogun State, called on the President of Nigeria - Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR)  to assent to the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

However, the NBA and Nigerians at large,  received with mixed feelings the decision of the president declining assent to the historic Bill on a number of grounds. 

 

Please find attached, the statement of the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association on the refusal of  presidential assent.
