Distinguished Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Elders of our great Branch, Learned Seniors, and Honourable Colleagues, permit me to express my profound gratitude to God Almighty for this peaceful election.  

I thank every eligible voter who took time out of their busy schedule to vote at the NBA Ikorodu Branch election yesterday, June 8, 2022. Your preparations in the last two years leading to your qualification to vote and your actual voting on election day is highly commendable. Words are not enough to convey my deep appreciation for the honour done me by my election. I cannot thank you enough. 

I also appreciate all members of the Branch for the support, words of encouragement, and congratulatory messages in respect of this election. 

I congratulate all contestants for putting themselves forward to serve the Branch. There are no victors or vanquished in this election. The Branch is the ultimate winner. I urge everyone to join hands with us to move the Branch forward. Bravo to all elected members of the Executive Committee. I look forward to a robust working relationship with you all to deliver on our campaign promises to our members. We must deliver on the social contract and pact we have with our members. 

I commend the friends of I.K.Thany and, especially, my campaign team for a job well done. I single out for commendation Mrs. Clementina E. Ukiri, Mr. I. A. Afunso, Alhaja O. M. Folami, Mr. Muyiwa Ogunsami, Mrs. O. O. Muyiwa, Mr. E.K. Ajileye, Mrs. Bisola Kafaru, Mrs. Ronke Dere, Mrs. V. B. Egunjobi and Mrs. Hilda Akinkuotu for their tenacity, steadfastness, and hard work over the years. It has paid off.

I commend my Leaders and Chairmen Emeritus of our Branch ‐ Mr. N. A. Ogbara, Prince Kazeem Adebanjo, and Prince Adedotun Adetunji for their exceptional guidance and for standing by me through thick and thin. Your shadows shall not depart from you Sirs. I also thank Chairmen Emeritus Mr. Olu Otayomi, Mr. Anthony Ebeh, Mr. S.O.K Shillings, and Mr. Levi Adikwaone, and our Vice Chairman Emeritus ‐ Dame Gloria Cassius (my destiny helper), and Queen General ‐ Islamiyyat Adesola for their constant words of advice. To my mentors and role models ‐ Mr. Babs Anipasan (since our days in the University), Alhaja M. O. Raji, Mr. D. O. Odde, and Baba B. A. Osoba and other elders of the Branch ‐ Mr. Akin Duyilemi, Agbaakin A. Ogundipe, Mr. Banji Adelegan, Mr. Olabisi Kolawale, Mr. E. Ogbaide, Mrs. H. A. Fadahunsi, Mrs. N. Obianozie (my in-law), Mr. S. A. Omolaja, Prince A. B. Ladega, Mr. Jamiu Abdulakeem, Mrs. Eno Adeoye, Mrs. Abiola Ajayi, Mr. Sunkanmi Ogunniran, Mr. R. Mogaji and Mr. R. Oguntade I cannot repay the debt of gratitude I owe you all.

I once again thank everyone who contributed in one way or the other to the success we are celebrating today. It is my prayer that God Almighty will reward everyone a millionfold. 

Let me seize this opportunity to state that this Branch belongs to all of us. The welfare of members is of paramount importance to me and we shall deliver on this promise. Everyone is expected to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the Branch by participating in different committees and programmes of the Branch. In this wise, I urge Mr. Bayo Akinlade, our Chairman Emeritus to join hands with me with a view to replicating his feat in office and repositioning our Branch as the numero uno Branch in Nigeria. 

I must commend members of the Branch Electoral Committee for a job well done despite daunting challenges. I commend the Chairman, Mr. J. U. Nnamani, for his wisdom and dexterity in delivering the election safely. I also commend Mrs. Charity Fagade, my senior and mentor since our days at the University of Maiduguri.

Lastly, I commend the outgoing Exco, especially my Brother, the Chairman, Mr. T. A. Ojedokun, for keeping the Branch together these past two years. I wish each and every outgoing Exco member the best in their future endeavours. Mr. Seun Akas's aspiration for the office of NBA Assistant General Secretary is a Branch project. I urge us all to drum up support for him. I pledge to do all within my power to deliver him. May God help us all. Amen!

I respectfully urge all members to join hands with us to move the Branch forward as we settle down to work to usher in greater prosperity and life more abundant for our members.
