I wish us divine blessings this new month.
Congratulations to everyone who exercised their civic right in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections. May the gains abide with us now and forever more.
As members of the elite corps of the Nigerian society, we are the leading light that less privileged people look up to as role models and advisors. We have the responsibility to enlighten people. Elections are over and the task of nation-building will continue. There are no perfect elections anywhere in the world as every human institution, including marriage and raising a family are not without incidents and accidents. Perfection belongs to God. As educated and enlightened people, let us advise ourselves on the civilised way of pressing grievances and observing irregularities during the polls. That is the lawyers' job and that is what the election tribunals are for.
There are no victors or vanquished in this election. It has helped to open new frontiers and things hitherto thought to be impossible have been seen to be possible, especially with the very impressive outing of Mr. Peter Gregory Obi/Labour Party upsetting the status quo in the just concluded election. He has opened up new vistas and laid the foundation for better and rewarding future participation by persons supposedly without political structure; those with structure ignore such persons to their own peril. Let no one gloat or be jubilant over the outcome of this election for in the end no one among us here can beat his chest of how the election will personally affect their private fortunes. Let us pray for a better society under the new milieu.
May God guide the newly elected leaders of our country and prosper our land. Amen!
